Once the boat is lifted, the underwater hull is washed with a high pressure water jet. The boat is then taken to the place where remaining works are performed, it is grounded, and the scaffolding is placed. What follows is sanding and preparation for the application of antifouling coating.
While sanding is performed, the underwater part of the hull is inspected thoroughly to see if there is any damage or leaking.
While sanding of the underwater part of the hull is performed, also all underwater valve openings are cleaned and greased, and bow and stern thruster propellers are dismantled and cleaned in case the boat has any.
Sanding of the underwater part of the hull includes sanding and cleaning of all metal parts like shafts, propellers, carrier shafts, rudder shafts, flaps, hydraulic platform constructions and similar.
During the control of the underwater part of the hull, the airy feature of shaft bearings in shaft struts, as well as on shaft seals are inspected; and there is also the control if there are any signs of sea leaking into the hull.
When the underwater part of the hull has been inspected and completely sanded, it is degreased together with its metal parts. The next phase is the application of antifouling coating to the underwater hull. A special antifouling coating is applied to the metal parts after a layer of primer has been applied.
We also repair any damage on the hull, remove any old antifouling and old paint layers and repair and protect the underwater hull according to the required procedure.
We also perform osmosis repairs on plastic boats.
When antifouling is applied to the underwater hull, new zinc protectors are installed on the foreseen positions.
When installing new zinc protectors, the place where a zinc protector is installed is polished and the zinc protector is installed directly onto the metal surface in order to achieve the even protection.
Depending on construction material and type of boat itself, type of zinc protector is defined together with cathode protection. It is recommended to provide the cathode protection plan provided by the manufacturer together with a vessel..
It is also essential to check cable junctions important for cathode protection of the inner parts of the boat, so that the protection of galvanic currents is even.
We install and supply zinc protectors produced by approved manufacturers only.
